KANCHENJUNGA ROUND TREK
KANCHENJUNGA ROUND TREK
WHY CHOOSE THE KANCHENJUNGA ROUND TREK VIA DAFEY BHIR ?
The trek is an extremely offbeat trail situated in west Sikkim. It is part of a longer trek which takes one on a circuit through the entire Singalila ridge, covering Goecha La and finally ending at Yuksom. This is a shortened version, which involves only 9 days of trekking. The trails winds its way through Rhododendron forests, beautiful high altitude lakes and alpine meadows, while offering the best, close up views of the Kanchenjunga and Everest massif’s. This makes the long hours of trekking enjoyable and worth all the effort. Overall, in our opinion, this is the BEST trek in West Sikkim, period.
Highlights :
· Offbeat trail. The chances of seeing another trekker on the route after the first campsite is unlikely.
· Crossover trail . The views are not repeated.
· The best, close up views of Kanchenjunga. Nowhere else in India do you get so close and still see the entire Sleeping Buddha.
· Best views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and a lot of other peaks in the Nepal Himalaya
· We get to see more than 6 alpine lakes and camp beside two of them.
· Rhododendron bloom starts by mid-March, so we should get to witness the bloom as we trek through the Rhodo forests.
· We also get to experience local culture and food (primarily lepcha) at both the homestay’s on the trek.
